In 2011, a partnership of the Heritage Trust and National Trust inaugurated an event that linked the rural nature of Westerham with its historic military past. A trail of scarecrows around the town led visitors and residents alike to the multiple attractions of Westerham. The event included re-enactments of 18th Century battles, a living history camp, a Barn Dance and Fair on the Green.
A Scarecrow trail event was repeated in 2012, with over 100 scarecrows, although now organised by another charity. It is envisaged that in 2013, this event will be linked to the Westerham Gala in September.
